Just so you know, Nile and Behemoth aren't new bands.

Possessed are amazingly well known as the first Death Metal band. They have alot of Thrash elements though, so it's easy to confuse I guess.

I beg to differ. They were thrash with death elements that spawned death metal.

Possessed are as much death metal as Venom is Black Metal.

Thrash with Death Metal influences, yet better known as Death Metal, since Seven Churches is basically a Death metal album.

I admit it's where Death metal came from...like their song, Death Metal. But, they are (were) thrash. Plus, their lyrics weren't death-esque. They definitely had thrash lyrics.

Meh. I'm basing this observation solely on Seven Churches, since it's the only essential Poseessed disk anyways.

Yeah. Who really cares anyways. They were amazing, that's what matters.
