I just got an e-mail. There is going to be a Rockstar Uproar tour this year. No bands have been announced yet but we got another summer metal tour.

That's not a metal tour.  Bands like Airbourn and Halestorm.  Those automatically take the metal out of a Summer tour.

And yet Hellyeah, Stone Sour, Disturbed, and Avenged Sevenfold arent metal? All those bands with the acception of Stone Sour have all done OZZFEST.
(Although you would think Stone Sour would have done OZZFEST a while ago)

You're saying something that I already know.  Having Disturbed and Stone Sour on the same tour automatically mean that they aren't metal.

Thank you Mr. Middle_Finger and Mr. Socko........Bands like Seether, POD, TaprooT, Chevelle, and Tool are hard rock bands (and all of those bands toured OZZFEST atleast once). Bands like Stone Sour, Disturbed, and especially HELLYEAH have all been reconized as metal. Get your hand out of your Socko and realize the metal isnt just a bunch of gutteral vocals and machine gun guitars.

sure the minute you cut off your hand that has the sock on it that you already jacked off in. And when type of rock is Tool then? Your obviously have a PHD in Metal Studies. And can you show the article that Cory Said this? And to me its metal Like Godsmack and Disturbed. To me this is 90s metal. This is what metal sounded like until the 21 century came around and the New Wave of Metal began (Bands like Lamb Of God, God Forbid, Killswitch Engage etc). So lets see your Degree in Metal Studies.

Perhaps if you're talking about 90's commercial metal. To me 90's metal were bands like Sepultura, Carcass, Morbid Angel, Blind Guardian, Death etc...

What Makes Heavy Metal Music Different From Other Rock Music?

Heavy metal music has a sound that is all it?s own. It is different from other forms of rock music for many reasons. The primal sounds of heavy metal music are very forceful and there is no doubt that it is loud. Almost without exception, heavy metal places a heavy emphasis of guitars. Heavy metal bands typically consist of a small number of musicians but each instrument is important in creating the forceful sound that is the trademark of the genre.

While heavy metal music does have a lyrical influence, it is the overall sound of the instruments that makes heavy metal stand out rather than what the story is in the song. Ironically, this is part of what why some people don?t like it. Because lyrics are sung loudly and often in a style that resembles an angry shout, fans often cannot understand the lyrics. To develop a taste for heavy metal music, it is good to start out by focusing on the music and develop an ear for hearing and understanding the lyrics.

There are several types of heavy metal music too. For example thrash music is considered to be a subgenre of heavy metal that is very strong and powerful. The death metal genre is very complex and it seems to be more underground. It simply hasn?t been able to compete with thrash metal. The 80?s and 90?s were the decades when heavy metal was at its peak in popularity.

However, in the late 90?s it seemed that punk rock music began to dominate music tastes that once were devoted to the heavy metal genre. Many say that heavy metal has been changed in lots of ways. Others will argue that even in the 70?s there were bands such as Led Zeppelin that were paving the way for heavy metal to become so popular. Over the years, there have been a number of outstanding heavy metal bands that have enjoyed long careers with strong fan bases including Megadeth, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica and Black Sabbath.

You may love heavy metal or you may think it is nothing but noise. Regardless it is something that has had a very powerful influence on the history of music. Many of the top heavy metal musicians got their start playing classical music. While heavy metal is a niche genre, it has shown a healthy ability to adapt and evolve, and it is that ability that shows that heavy metal music will be around for a long time to come.
